A visit to Global Gifts is a unique experience.  Shoppers appreciate that items are a product of centuries of talent and techniques passed down from generation to generation.  Our products are hand-made by artisans spanning the globe and representing over 35 countries, mostly from the developing regions of the world.  But just as important as our exciting inventory, is that each purchase helps provide valuable employment for struggling artisans and producers in the developing world.  Global Gifts is a fair trade store.  Fair trade means:

• We specifically work with artisans who would not other-wise be able to reach a market for their products.  We work with people in developing regions of the world who lack the opportunity to earn a decent living.

• Artisans receive a fair price for their work.  It is often set by the artisans and it is based on what is considered a fair wage in the artisan’s country.

• Artisans are paid 50% in advance when an order is placed, and the remaining 50% promptly after the products have reached the shipping port within the artisans country or continent.  This allows much needed income for materials and supplies for artisans who other-wise might not be able to fulfill orders.

• We build long-term relationships with our artisan partners – enabling them to build their business over time.

• Environmental responsibility and sustainability is emphasized in the making of our products.

• Gender equity, no child labor, and safe and healthy working conditions are important to how we do business.
